We would call it a semi-formal... but that would be too mainstream

Howdy CBL!

Get excited, because TOMORROW is this year's semi-formal event! We're having a fancy dinner at the Hilton on University, followed by some awesome underground music and dancing. Doors open at 6, and dinner will be served at 7!

We are so excited to see what y'all will be wearing, so don't disappoint! Go find some trendy/hipster clothes to wear and come on out!

Parent's Weekend!

Howdy everybody!
It's that time of year again! A time to relax, looking back on all that God has done in CBL this year. A time to reflect, showing our family and friends evidence of all of the things we've been able to do this year. A time to re-energize ourselves and get excited for summer and next year!

Our annual Christian Business Leaders' Parents' Weekend Banquet will be this coming Saturday, March 31, at 6:00 at the General Services Complex. Tickets are $20 and can be bought at the door, but we would still love for you to send us an RSVP at cblstafftamu@gmail.com! If your parents won't be able to make it to town this weekend you don't have to pay the $20- we still want you to come and be a part of the festivities!  We'll be having some delicious barbecue, raising money in our silent auction, and taking time to look back on all the awesome things we've been able to do this year as well as introducing new co-directors for the 2012-2013 school year! Needless to say, there are plenty of reasons to be there on Saturday night. We WILL be done in time to go to parents' Breakway at 9:00!

We are all very excited to show those we love some of the great times we've had this year and can't wait to see you all there!

Big Event and Christian Leaders Meeting

Howdy all!  CBL is getting ready for two very exciting events this week:  our first ever Christian Leaders Meeting on Thursday night and Big Event this Saturday.
We have invited Christian Engineering Leaders and Christian Architecture Leaders to our speaker meeting on Thursday.  We are excited to get our sister organizations together for the first time!  We will be hearing about what God is doing in their organizations and hearing from a speaker on what it's like to live out our faith in the workplace.
This Saturday CBL is going to two different locations including a residential site and a nonprofit Christian Center to paint, do some gardening, and other maintenance work.  We will be meeting at the teacher lot at 9am and leaving around 10 or 10:30 for our sights.  We have such a big turnout that we had to split up, but I am confident that the Lord will be present at both locations and will be glorified in this experience over all.  What a wonderful opportunity we have to serve the Lord by serving our community with Big Event.

Muffins!

Hey everyone! So it's that time again. What's that? You don't know what time I'm referring to? Why it's time for Wehner Breakfast of course! Are you excited? Good!

Wehner Breakfast is one of Mays Committee's most favorite events. In case you don't know what this is, it's where we sit in the hall of Wehner and hope to brighten the day of those unfortunate souls with 8 a.m. classes by handing out free muffins and bananas. It's a good time. I personally love Wehner Breakfast, and if you're available you should come by. I know you'll love it too!

Maysfest Is Here!

So guess what it's time for again? If you guessed Maysfest, you guessed correctly. You are so smart! Or you're just good at picking up on context clues like the title of this post. Either way, good job!

Maysfest is one of Mays Committee's main and most fun events, and it's tomorrow! We'll be outside between Wehner and WCL from 8:00-3:00 tomorrow spreading Jesus' love through passing out free candy and water bottles to people. We had a ton of people come by our table last semester, and we had a ton of fun!

So if you're around and free, you should come out and talk to us. It's going to be a good time!

Breakaway Shalom Project Fundraiser

Outreach is putting together a fundraiser to support Breakaway's Shalom Project. This year Breakaway is raising money to give to Tiny Hands International which is an organization dedicated to fight human trafficking. They are currently trying to build refuge homes to house victims of human trafficking. Two weeks ago, Outreach decided to put on a garage sale to raise money to support. The garage sale will be tomorrow from 8 to whenever it dies down. It's been so neat to see God at work, we have gotten an array of donations including TVs, iphones, ps2, among many other things. He has just continued to provide and we can't wait to see what he's going to do tomorrow! Please keep it in your prayers! Thanks and Gig 'em.

Casino Night!

It's that time of the year again! Time for CBLers and friends of CBLers to dress up, gather around, and play some good old fashioned casino games as well as other fun board games!

Note: this is not gambling. This is playing games of chance and losing money in a Christi...an way. Big difference...

Cost to play is only $5 and there will be awesome prizes for the winners of each table.

There will be food, drinks, music, plus awesome CBL people! So pretty much the best day ever. So clear your calendar, tell your friends, and come be apart of CBL Casino Night

Sanctified

This Friday we are hosting our annual spring "conference" called Sanctified at FBC Bryan. This year we are hosting Christian hip-hop artist Tedashii, Jarrett Davis Band, and Dr. Jeff Warren. All proceeds are going to be donated to our partner, The Wells Project.  Each year over 3.5 million people die from water related illness and almost 1 billion worldwide are without clean water. It is our hope, that God willing, this event will help to aid in the fight against this crisis, but more importantly further the Kingdom in these impoverished nations. Also, it is our prayer that we can benefit the local Church through this sure to be entertaining event. Pray that God is glorified through our event!

Spring retreat is upon us. We will be camping at Lake Bryan. We have several exciting activities planned. The primary focus of the retreat is develop and cultivate a sense of community and fellowship among CBL members, both new and old. Beyond that, we will just get together, get silly and glorify the Lord as a group.

Thanks and Gig 'Em

First Thursday Meeting is Tomorrow!

Howdy all!

As we begin to get into the flow of this semester, it also means the beginning of CBL Thursday night meetings (Whoop!). Tomorrow, January 26, will be the first meeting of the semester; however, we do not have our new members who are joining for the Spring. This Thursday will be a shorter meeting, with the primary purpose being fellowship and reconnecting. Also, we are going to use this opportunity as a chance to outline the events for this semester, along with handling some administrative issues.

Thanks and Gig 'Em

Prayer!!!

The prayers of a righteous man are powerful and effective! James writes these words as a call for the people of God to pray for one another for all things. CBL meets every week right outside of Wehner to worship God and to call to Him in prayer. This semester we desire our prayers for CBL to be a reflection of Paul's prayer in Ephesians 6:19, " Pray also for me, that whenever I speak, words may be given me so that I will fearlessly make known the mystery of the gospel." We desire to be used by God on this campus, in this community, and for the rest of our lives, to proclaim the mystery of the gospel to every single person we come in contact with. We desire to grow closer to the Lord this semester as we seek to memorize and hide God's Word in our hearts. Please be praying for God to unite us as one body and give us boldness as we proclaim His name to the Texas A&M Campus, the city of Bryan/College Station and eventually the world!

Reunited... And it feels so good!

Happy New Year from your friendly neighborhood CBL staff! We hope you all had a fantastic break and are as excited as we are about what God has in store for us this semester!

So, we don't have an official meeting until next Thursday, the 26th, but we just can't wait that long to see you. We are going to have a social this coming Thursday the 18th at 6:00 at the Woodlands apartments to play volleyball! The courts are lit and the weather is forecasted in the upper 60's so it should be a great time! There's no way anyone has homework yet... right? So come out and hang with us!

Also, as the semester begins, we hope that everyone involved in or with CBL, be it parents, members, alumni, whomever, would be in prayer for our organization. We are excited and hopeful that God will use us in powerful ways this year for His kingdom, but we know that for the plans he has put on our hearts to be successful, we must be in communion with Him daily. Please pray that He would be our rock and our guide as we work for His glory this semester!

"The Lord is my Shepherd, I shall not want. He makes me lie down in green pastures, He leads me by still waters. He restores my soul. He leads me in paths righteousness for His name's sake."
Psalm 23:1-3
